Antoinette Woerishoffer        1875 - 1901

Antoinette Woerishoffer (AW) was born on the 27th of October 1875 in New York to Charles Frederic Woerishoffer (CFW) and his wife Anna (née Uhl).

She had a sister 10 years younger called Emma Carola.  Her father died in 1886 at the age of 41 when AW was 11.

On the 23rd of March 1897 AW (aged 21) created a trust at the United States Trust Company of NY which consisted of $825'000 bonds, $928'000 mortgages and $ 194'531 cash.  A total of $1'947'531.

She also received a legacy from her step-grandfather Oswald Ottendorfer who died in December 1900.

On the 10th  of Feb. 1898 AW signed a Revocation, Assignment, Release and Ante-Nuptial Settlement with the UST.  By doing so she revoked $250'000 of the loans secured by mortgages in the 1897 trust and transferred these to another trust in favour of Carlo Seilern to whom she was engaged

Carlo Seilern was a beneficiary to the income but not the capital.  Upon CS's death, the capital was to go to Antoinette and if she was not alive then to the children per stirpes.  No provision was made for her children.

The marriage was not as a community but as a separation of goods.

On the 10th of Feb. 1898 Antoinette signed a Last Will and Testament leaving apparel, jewellery etc. to her mother AW,  $250'000 outright to her husband CS and $750'000 in further trust for him.

On March 6th, 1900 she took $171'239.75 and in October a further $196'000 out of her 1897 trust.  Presumably either to buy the property in Frensham Place or set up CS in business??

Antoinette (now Seilern) died on the 22nd Dec. 1901 (aged 26), five days after giving birth to Antoine Seilern.

See 'OPINION' of Lee & Pembertons, London dated 31st Oct. 1901.  And a second one by William Rumsey dated 20th Nov. 1901 which states the opposite.  There is also a 'Case for Opinion of Counsel' which presumably asks the questions Mr Rumsey was required to answer.

Note:  Carlo Seilern was 9 years older than Antoinette.
